It's #SteamPoweredSunday! We're taking you off the traditional train tracks with #Guelph streetcars!🚋 From its inception in 1895 to its end in 1937, the Guelph Railway Company had changed between many hands. Ultimately, the streetcars were discontinued due to operating losses.
Cabinet photograph with cream coloured mount. St. George's Square showing Blacksmith Fountain and street cards, post office, St. George's Church, Victoria Hotel, Alex Stewart's Drug store, Canadian Bank of commerce, horses and buggies- no automobiles; arc street lamps.
Black and white photograph - probably a reprint from an original - of Upper Wyndham Street, looking from the Square, showing three street cars pulling into the Square and a fourth on Upper Wyndham Street. On of the streetcars says "Suffolk St." Also on the road are some horses and carriages, a vending wagon and a car. Only the East side of the street is visible.
The Silvercreek Brewery. Waterloo Ave. Guelph with a street car in front of it. A side shot of the front of the Silvercreek Brewery. the building is of large rectangular brick or stone with 4 stories of windows, rectangular. The front has a triangular (facing) on top and a large chimney of dark brick rises behind it.
Black and white slide of people crowded onto a Guelph Radial Railway car to go to an exhibition of the Ontario Agricultural College. There are at least thirty people visible in the photograph; men, women and children.
